Baby steps

My first post. When I paint, I find that thinking too hard about the symbolic value of the work ruins the painting. I need to do research beforehand : draw, think, sit, but then when I paint some how I need to use all these elements in a more instinctive fashion. If I paint in an intellectual sort of way, the painting ends up dry, stiff and boring. A bit like blogging really.
